On Fire for Christ

Knowing the Lord and having an intimate relationship with Him through prayer and reading His word is a blessing. Unfortunately, not everyone will get to have that experience in their lifetime because they choose to deny God and live for the world. We must pray for the world to turn toward Jesus and to turn away from their idols. Our chaotic culture and self worshiping society is nothing new in the twenty first century. Man has been caught between sin and righteousness since the Fall. The Bible is a timeless story of truth for all. Timeless is the key word. Your bell bottom jeans and crop tops may go in and out of style, but the Bible never will. His word says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV).

So what is our purpose as followers of Christ? To love God. To glorify God. To make God known. In Matthew chapter 22:36-39, Jesus is asked, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Have you pondered on what it means to love with all your heart, soul, and mind? It means we need to be on fire for Christ! We need love like 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 tells us to love. We need the love for the Lord to penetrate our hearts (with how we feel), our soul (with our spirit), and our minds (with our thoughts). If one of these areas is lacking in love for the Lord, then you may be walking as a casual Christian or stuck in a valley needing a brother or sister to come rescue you. We must be on guard of this daily. We must take up our cross daily. We must intentionally choose to walk with the Lord and follow Jesus every single day. Is the faithful Christian walk easy? Of course not! In John chapter 16 verse 33, Jesus says: “In the world you will have tribulation…” –tribulation means troubles and burdens! –but then he continues on saying, “…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Do not fear, sisters in Christ. Jesus Christ has overcome the world. When we think about our life, we need to be focused on eternity; that is what truly matters. Though God gave us our life here on earth, we are to seek Him and bring glory to Him until that day comes when our souls will either go to heaven or hell. We cannot live out this life saying we love the Lord, but keep walking in sin and have no repentance for it. When your time on this earth comes to an end, you will not be given “one last chance” to choose Jesus. The choice is now my dear friends. On this earth, you’re either choosing the world or you’re choosing Jesus.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” –Romans 12:2 NKJV

Be blessed mamas, sisters, and friends!
