Writer’s Block and Nominal Christians

Hey mamas, sisters, and friends! I hope the title of this post has intrigued you–because it’s been a minute since you’ve heard from me. Like the title says: writer’s block. Over the last month and half, I haven’t had much inspiration to blog–just being honest. Maybe it’s the life season we’re in, or the longer days we’re having–either way, I’m just content to be typing on my computer again. Though I will say, it does feel a bit forced lol. Rant over. Moving on to topic number two: nominal Christians.

The weekly bible study I attend had a staggering statistic the other day. Did you know that 65% of Americans claim to be Christians, but only 6% out of the 65% actually adhere to having a biblical worldview? Here are some posts that reference similar data.

If you have time, take a quick look at some of those links I posted above. Bottom line is that our culture is continuing to become more secular. Secular means authority of self. So, by living in a secular culture, there may be people who claim to be Christians but actually deny the authority of God over ALL aspects of their life and in turn live their life through the authority of themselves. For example, see all of the information in the links above. There are some thought provoking questions and points that get brought up. Ultimately, as a bible-believing Christian who lives my life with God holding the authority over everything, and living out my life as a testimony to the Christian name–I urge you friends, seek a deeper relationship with our Savior! Having one foot in the world and one foot in the Word is not what Jesus teaches. James 4:4 writes, “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

If you don’t know my background and this is the first post you’re reading…read “Who is Your God?” Where I share a brief testimony on walking intimately with God and breaking out of the worldly ways as a ‘casual Christian.’ Going back to nominal Christianity, I think those two terms are similar. Billy Graham’s ministry has a good Q & A of someone asking, “What is a Nominal Christian?” if you’re curious.

Dear friends, I don’t know where your relationship is with God today–but I’m not here to sugarcoat anything. There’s a fire within me (the Holy Spirit) and He wants the truth to be proclaimed! There’s no time for shrugging shoulders, avoiding these hot topics, or giving passive answers. The bible is clear as day and in the words of Christ Himself, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” –Matthew 11:15. And in the words of my pastor, “There are things you do and don’t do that verify you’re a Christian.” Let your life SHOW the testimony of Christ, being born again and living every day for He who paid it all for me. I’m a sinner in need of a Savior–every day of my life!

Peace be with you and bring you comfort in these current times. Just like a parent has unconditional love for their children, no matter the choices of their actions. They might not like their behavior, but they will always love them. I stand firm in sharing this message through that analogy. I don’t have to agree with you, but I speak the truth with love. A love that runs deep for Christ–and Christ has that love for YOU, too! All you need to do is repent, accept, and live your life for Him. God be with you mamas, sister, and friends!
