This last week, my husband, mother-in-law, and two sweet baby girls went down to the gulf coast of Florida for a wonderful beach getaway. We got to wake up to ocean views, walk our feet in the soft, white sand, and bask in the glorious, hot sunshine while the light blue ocean water kept us cool. It truly felt like the ocean waves were washing all of our cares away this past week. On the other hand, it may be the ocean that makes us feel this ambiance of peace—but it is the Lord God Almighty who is the ultimate provider of it.
- “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you” –John 14:27
- “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace” –1 Corinthians 14:33
- “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts” –Colossians 3:15
- “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.” –2 Thessalonians 3:16
The things God has created are joyous to our soul to take part in. Like floating in the waves of the ocean and feeling the soft sand beneath our feet. We don’t need to take a beach trip to be a part of God’s creation–just waking up and watching the sun rise through the window of our home is enough to praise our Creator. Admiring the works of God’s design is something we all should be doing each and every day. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies show His handiwork.” –Psalm 19:1
When we put ourselves in nature, it just naturally seems like we’re closer to the Lord. Do you get that feeling too? We’re intentionally walking side by side with His creation; kind of like I mentioned when I first started writing this blog. Sometimes it’s easier for our carnal self to think that walking along the beach is bringing me peace. Or taking a nature walk through a blossoming garden with the sun shining. Or sitting out on the lake during a sunset. It feels like those moments bring you peace. But like I stated: God is the One who is providing us that peace. We are drawing closer to His creation, so naturally, we will feel a greater peace to the environment we are in because He created it.
Keep drawing close to the things God created; just don’t assume that the ocean or the trees are providing you peace. That comes from the Lord, my friends. You may feel at peace being in those places, but God is the ultimate provider it. Have a blessed week, mamas, sisters, and friends. Peace be with you!
