Motherhood is Found in Christ

I went to a coffee shop today. By myself. Without the children and without my husband. I’ve attached some pictures in this post because it was very aesthetic, and I miss taking pictures and posting them on social media! But don’t think for a second I’m gonna download those apps again lol

It seems foreign to be sitting at a table alone typing on my laptop, sipping my iced latte, and writing a blog post with the only distractions of people walking in and out of the shop while people watching. There’s a sweet looking grandma sitting to my right, eating a pastry and reading a novel. There are some friends chatting at a two-top table across the way. There are about four mothers with their children–some pushing strollers, and some holding their babies. I guess it seems unfamiliar sitting here alone because I should be the mom pushing the stroller with my two babies. My girls are two and ten months old, so seeing the liveliness of the other children pulls on my heart strings, yearning for my own babies to be with me.

As much as I enjoy this long overdue mama’s morning out–I can’t help but still think of my own children while I’m away from them. Why is that? Hello! Because we’re natural nurturers. Of course the time away or this “break” feels nice, but at my core I am still a young mama seeking the hearts of my children. I stand firm on my viewpoint of motherhood: joyful, wholesome, and honest (my tagline for this blog!) The relationship I’ve cultivated as my role and responsibility of being a mother has not been tainted by the lies of our toxic worldly outlook on being a mom. The world says motherhood is a draining chore, filled with chaos and never ending tasks where you no longer are who you thought you were. Flip the script, ladies. Do not believe the lies of our culture. Instead, find your truth in the living Word of God to guide you and show you the joys that motherhood is, in all that it is–the highs and the lows. That’s part of why I created this blog! To share biblical truth in the realities of my journey of motherhood. Some previous posts that relate to this are:

  • Mom Chat: Check Yourself where I share about a not-so-pretty mom moment of walking in the flesh and not my spirit. Thank you Lord, for the Holy Spirit that lives inside me to convict me of my sin.
  • Mom Chat: A Hard Lesson where I share another time my flesh rose above my spirit. I shouldn’t have acted the way I did–but, God! My hope is found in Him.
  • Mom Chat: Motherhood is Busy where I share relatable content for the mama who needs a little encouragement.

Looking to my Lord and Savior to lead me through the path of life is my continual encouragement for you, mamas. Your identity of being a mama should not merely be in the fact that you are a mom. Your identity is found in Christ! We are to look to Jesus Christ, first and foremost, in motherhood. We’re all sinners in need of a Savior: you and your children included.

“There is something about the name of Jesus, it sounds like forgiveness, sounds like amazing grace. It beckons my soul to sing forever, there’s just something about that name.” –Anne Wilson, Something About That Name

Welcome to Making Motherhood–where I’m all about sharing relatable content as a mom who’s literally putting the pieces of motherhood together as I go. I don’t have it all figured out by any means, but I do have the desire to share relatable content through my own experiences. And in today’s chaotic culture, maybe I can plant some seeds along the way to help you grow in a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a young mama, I’m here to support, play a part in, and befriend you through your own journey of making motherhood.
