There is a Season for Everything

Hey mamas, sisters, and friends! Almost a whole month has passed since my last blog post–and for good reason. I was doing some self reflection at the start of September, and I realized that I was getting too consumed with blogging, writing, and posting. It was becoming something I thought of at the forefront of my mind; almost competing with my main role as mama. Wow. It’s interesting writing these thoughts and seeing how truly simple it is to get over consumed by something.

How this came to be: I became a member on Substack in August, and I slowly got more and more involved on that platform. I downloaded the app and it started sucking away my time here and there, instead of being present in the now–like my last post talked about (read it if you haven’t checked it out!) I mention at the end of the post how I was checking my phone more since I joined the Substack community (keep in mind, I’m not on any other social media platforms, so I was diving back into the world of always wanting to stay up to date on posts and people). It’s a great media outlet to be a part of in the writing and blogging community, but I know my limits. Enough was enough. I needed to disconnect and reset–hence the pause on posting blogs on here, too.

When I was doing the Substack thing, I was being too harsh on myself by committing to writing posts and getting content out there like this was a part-time job. That’s not the season I’m in right now. I’m in the season of raising a one year old and a two year old. Cooking three meals a day. Tending to the house and loving my husband. Playing blocks and reading books to my little girls. Going to bible studies and building up our family culture as followers of Christ. Baking bread and making muffins with my children right by side. Putting down the phone. Putting away distractions. Immersing myself in the life as a stay at home mom and getting to be there for my children day in and day out. That is the season of life I’m in right now–and all praise to God that I get to do this!

Starting my blog is not a regret. In the season I started doing most of my posts, things were easier and more calm with a newborn and a one year old. Now, I’m chasing two tots around like it’s nobody’s business lol–and I rejoice in that! I plan to keep blogging and pursuing this passion of mine–just not with the intensity and expectations I put on myself. I think I just wanted to ‘do it all.’ I had that mindset when my creative outlet started flowing as a member on Substack. But, God. The Lord gave me a reality check and said no My daughter, you will not do it all. You will focus on growing in patience, gentleness, and self-control in your walk with Me alongside your motherhood and homemaking duties–and what a blessing the last month has been to have that mindset! Only the mindset of being a mother and a wife. Hallelujah. When something comes to mind that I want to share, then Lord-willing, I will take the the time to write about it when the time is right. I need to be all in for my girls at this stage of life–not all in on blogging. The time will come when I can set a more rigid schedule for writing and posting. There is a season for everything.

In closing with that, the bible is the first to tell us this in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verse 1, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”  Let us not be weary in the seasons that are more trying and challenging, but be drawing closer to Christ. Take a look at all of Ecclesiastes chapter 3 if you haven’t read it in a while. I thank God that He opened my eyes to where my true priorities lie in this current season. May the Lord bless you and give you wisdom in your own areas of life! Until next time, mamas, sisters, and friends.

Welcome to Making Motherhood–where I’m all about sharing relatable content as a mom who’s literally putting the pieces of motherhood together as I go. I don’t have it all figured out by any means, but I do have the desire to share relatable content through my own experiences. And in today’s chaotic culture, maybe I can plant some seeds along the way to help you grow in a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a young mama, I’m here to support, play a part in, and befriend you through your own journey of making motherhood.
