My posts haven’t been consistent, have you noticed? The last blog I sent out, There is a Season for Everything, gave some reflections on my priorities as a Christian mama and wife. Hence, the lack of posts. Are you piecing together the puzzle? Over the last year of having this website, I was able to share a lot of what God was putting on my heart as a mama with two under 2 while walking alongside Christ. In this current season, I need to be more Present in the Now while raising my two girls. I’ll still be posting…just at a slower pace.
I was looking at the post dates for my blogs, and it seems I started to have a pushback in my writing when my second daughter, Valerie, started walking (at eleven months). A two year old and one year old running around the house make my days more lively. Praise God for those two little blessings! But with all the motion and movement comes more tasks and more chores. I had to reflect on my priorities: the time I was spending with God in prayer, raising my two tots, keeping a home, and cultivating an intentional marriage with my husband has had my to-do list filled up. I didn’t want my blog to become a chore. I wanted it to come from the Holy Spirit–guiding me with the words I write and the content I share. For things to come from the heart and what the Lord lays on me. I think I’ve stayed true to that.
So mamas, sisters, and friends, I want to take us to this question: are you ready for Christ to come back again? What a glorious day that will be. Lyrics from my daughter’s worship music the other day sparked this thought: “Do Lord, oh do Lord, oh do remember me way beyond the blue. I’ve got a home in glory land that outshines the sun.”
In order to be ready, we must constantly be walking in reflection and repentance. Reflecting on our walk with Christ as we grow to be more like Him (sanctification), and repenting of our daily wrongdoings and shortcomings as sinners (Romans 3:23) are two key components we must do if we are followers of Christ.
Staying in His word and living out a biblical worldview is essential to calling yourself a Christian. Here are some questions I came up with align us back to scripture. Do our hearts have a posture that is seeking first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33)? Do our habits and rhythms put forth the love of Christ to go out and preach the gospel to all (Mark 16:15)? Is the fruit in your life springing forth as a testimony that you lay down your life each day to follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24-25)? Do the conversations and fellowship you partake in lead you to making disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:19)? These are tough questions we must continually be reflecting on as followers of Christ.
So that’s where the Lord has led me with this much-needed blog post I’m sharing. To have my eyes on Christ and ready for Him to come at any moment. All glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has saved me from my sins and made me a new creation. May I live each day pleasing Him and bringing glory to His name. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!
